Thinking about overclocking my Mustang.

'02 Stage 1 Roush with cold air induction and a short throw 5-speed. I was thinking of changing the rear-end to 3.73 with an aluminum drive shaft to start just for kicks. Then later going with a larger throttle body and MAF. Anything after that and it would cost way too much. Anyone done anything like this and have any suggestions or warnings?

BTW I'm not doing it to race or for competition but I just can't leave stuff alone. It's just like upgrading from an 8500 to 9700 for fun.

Don't forget to add a big heatsink to the engine, and remember just like upping the voltage on your Athlon or P4 will help overclock it adding higher octane gasoline to your engine will help it overclock too (well actually it'll probably just do nothing but maybe cause knocking when you go back to a lower octane but hey! :) )

go with 4.10's if the overdrive ratio in the 5 speed is good enough. if it isn't high enough go with 3.73's or you'll be sucking gas on the highway.

PM Monel Funkawitz, he seems to do a lot of mods to his Mustang. I'm sure he'll be able to give you some pointers.

depends on the overdrive gear ratio. if it's high enough then 4.10s won't be a problem on highways. I don't know what the OD ratio on the mustangs is off the top of my head, but i know there are LOTS of mustangs running 4.10s as daily drivers.

I think 3.73 will be better for track racing which I plan to do for fun later once I get some training in.
