Thinking about modding a zalman 7700

I need to know if all heat pipes are filled with chemical (and what chemical) or if some are really just solid copper rods?

I have a 7700 and was thinking about running 2 heatpipes from the block at the bottom to the top edge of the fins because the outer edge of the fins does ont even get warm.

Any suggestions on custom heatpipes?

I know that there are other heatsinks, but i think it would be cool to try modding this one(I also think that if done correctly it would boost performance by 5 or 6 degrees).

Theyre not solid copper, they have fluid inside.
