Thinking about having a small herb garden - what do you grow?

We just relocated to a house with a yard/patio, and were hoping to maybe get some potted herbs going. Most commonly used ingredients would have to be basil, rosemary, mint, and lemon grass, but I wouldn't mind having a few more :)

We started this year (for first time).....but we don't have big property.

Starting small. Just Rosemary, Chives, Peppers and Basil.

Next year we will expand that a bit.

I have parsley, normal basil, boxwood basil and hot oregano.

I definitely use basil the most

I grow mint because I like iced tea during the summer. Steep the mint with the tea bags and you have a nice summery drink. Mint is great to have on hand for when you want a mojito.

I also grow chives, basil, parsley, oregano, dill, sage, cilantro & rosemary. I also planted some catnip. Our cats (and some neighborhood cats) hang out in the garden which keep away birds, squirrels etc...

Consider growing radishes too. Radishes have a fast grow cycle and you can get a new crop every 30 days. They don't take up that much more room than typical herbs.

Basil was always my favorite...the plant started out small, but by the second year it turned into a huge plant. It didn't sprout again this third year.

One other interesting one that isn't an herb but is easy to grow and doesn't take up a lot of space is purslane. Goes well with salads and stands up very well to heat / dry weather, and actually has a lot of good nutritional properties.

Stop it with the BS. If you're gonna be growing some marijuana, just fucking say it. This is why I have a P.O. Box.

Yeah I thought this would be about weed too. But what does a PO box have to do with anything?

We grow the usual. Basil and Cilantro are two of our favorites though because we use them more than the others.

My herb garden has sweet basil, Thai basil, oregano, "spicy oregano", marjoram and sage.
There would have also been mint but the seeds didn't sprout. :(

Man, I hate when that happens. This year it was chives for me. I had to plant a second batch and they finally germinated a couple weeks ago.

Actually that happened to everything I planted but the sweet basil so I cheated and bought plants. :p

So the ATF don't come knocking on my door?

I don't see how that will help. The box is still registered to your name, and even if it somehow isn't they can just bust you when you go to pick it up. It is a little more work for them, I guess, but that is about it.
