With the new T-birds I'm thinking about building a new system. But I'm wondering about compativibility. I want a socket A design so I can OC w/o a goldenfinger.

Basically here's my questions:

Does the G2 GTS run alright on the KX133 chipset, since KT133 is basically the same i think it would work the same

Is Crucial PC133 RAM compatibale w/ the Via chipsets.

How much of a performance boost am I going to get coming from a 550E@733. I want a tbird like 900 and hope to OC to over a gig

i think the compatibility problems with geforce and athlon boards as well as memory are for the irongates, might be wrong though.

I would think the memory problems arose with the cheapo generic stuff on pricewatch, not the quality crucial, again might be wrong.

I think the performance boost is negligible with the geforce gts if you run at high resolutions between a p3 600->1ghz athlon or p3

depending on what you use your computer for of course.

IMO-not worth it, save you moolah for late fall.
new video and cpu with ddr support.

it's not an problem at all. there is no real compability issue anymore and never really was. cheap crap is always cheap crap.

you can get a duron or a slightly higer priced (and i mean slightly, the cost difference is not much) thunderbird and an asus a7v.

and remember, we don't have word on the limits of the tbird or the duron\spitfire. and getting a higher labeled processor usually means the % of speed increase is not as high as a lower labeled processor. meaning a 900 to a gig is like what, 11%. but a 700 to a gig is over 40%. you can get a cheaper processor that overclocks to a speed similar (at, above, or below depending on core which is different on every other processor) to a more expensive processor.
