1 short fast prime, 1 long zoom

Budget build, bang for the buck build, and a no limit build

Long zoom - there is the existing 70-200 f/4, and didn't Sony just announce their 70-200 f/2.8? That takes care of "bang for the buck" and "no limit" regarding long zoom.

Short fast prime = Sonys 35 and then ... what.... Zeiss ?

Budget build, prime Sigma DN lenses, 19mm, 30mm, or 60mm. Sigma also is also coming out with the Canon EF mount to Sony E mount adapter, so E mount users will have a bunch of lenses to choose from, either from Canon or Sigma made for Canon lenses.

I'd suggest the upcoming Sigma 30mm f/1.4 over the DN lenses. It's a little under twice the price and I would guess it'll be a much nicer lens. I had all 3 of the DN lenses for my Olympus and they were good lenses, I plan to get the new C lens when its out.

For a zoom lens...how about the Sony 10-18mm f/4 lens?

For budget zoom the 55-210 e-mount is hard to beat. It won't beat out the 70-200 f/4 by any stretch but it is much smaller and cheaper.

Are you going to be using it primarily for photography or video?

photography. one thing holding me back is how satisfied i am with my rx 100 ii. takes great pics and is very portable. my buddy has been posting shots he has been taking on his 7D, and think damn...time to go bigger sensor /jealous

i see these shots and look very promising http://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/3977895

but then wonder if i will be willing to take it along over the super small rx100 ii.
