Thinking about getting an xbox, is it a good time to buy one, or is there any new systems suppose to be coming out soon? Also, is it a good idea to upgrade the a/v cables that come with it to better quality ones.. and can you play backup games in it, if so how easy/hard is it to do?

Thanks

It's really easy to replace the hard drive and play backup games. There should be people in your area that can install a mod chip for under $50.

Now is a great time to buy an Xbox. I believe Wal-Mart has an Xbox bundle where you get Splinter Cell and MechAssault for $179.99. Not going to be any new systems out for a while (2006?).

Also, is it a good idea to upgrade the a/v cables that come with it to better quality ones..
Yes, the AV cables that come with the Xbox are regular composite rca cables. If your tv has an s-video in I would get the Advanced AV Pack. If you have a HiDef TV or your tv has component in, then get the HD AV Pack. Both the Advanced and HD Pack have optical audio out along with regular rca audio outs.

and can you play backup games in it, if so how easy/hard is it to do?
It's not too hard at all. Xbox-Scene will have all the information you need. Check out the Forums there, they are very, very helpful and contain a lot of information. The Tutorials are very nice too.

Thanks for the replies :)

I got a couple of more questions. What is the height of the xbox? I got to see if I can fit this thing into my entertainment center. Also I was looking at the wireless controllers, does anyone know if it is possible to have more then one wirless controller, or would they interfer with each other

Don't know but I'd guess they have multiple selectable frequencies - most things of this nature do.

If you have broadband get xbox live and enjoy mech assault :)

DEFINITELY upgrade the stock cables if you have s-video or component vid on your tv. $20 well worth it.
