I need to buy a new car, because of my credit, I need to get my parents to co sign... at first they were like, you have to get a new car so we get low interest and you have a warranty.... I talked to my stepdad, who is the decision maker, and I basically said, look, I make good money, and if I'm going to commit to a loan on a new car or something that expensive, I want to spend the money to get something I will enjoy... bla bla bla

well I told him I wanted to get an RX-8.. I have found some 2004 models, in great shape, with the balance of the factory warrany, and about 40,000 - 50,000 miles for about $18k. I really like the car, am not looking for a speedster, and I love the way they drive... ( i test drove one a few days ago)....

I know they don't have the best gas mileage (no big deal) and apparently can drink oil... but as long as I take care of the car, is there any big red flags about this vehicle that I should be aware of?
"Can drink oil"? Try "delibreately inject oil into the combustion chamber".

It's not a practical car, but I'm the last person in the world who has the right to suggest that you need a practical car. Just check your insurance rates for it.

At least the 914 is pretty simple. The Mustang should be very reliable. The way I see it, the 944 is really the only car that's a mechanical liability because of wear items.
