Thinking about getting an iPod

I'm thinking about getting a used first gen iPod. The thing I was wondering is will it work/can I get it to work on a PC with iTunes. It says it's a MAC one, but I was wondering if it would work now that iTunes has been ported over, or if I could just reformat or flash the firmware. Anybody know?

You will need a program to use it. It's freeware called macopener or something. I don't know if that changed since iTunes but since the HD is formatted differently, I would imagine it's the same.

Has anybody actually tried this? Will simply reformatting the iPod to fat32 allow it to still work on a pc, with iTunes and everything?

If you purchase a Mac iPod all you need to do is format it to Windows and it will work perfectly, no worries :0). Just buy it, you won't regret it one minute.
