Thinking about getting a pocket knife

Totally depends on what you consider "reasonably inexpensive." To me Spyderco pretty well dominates in terms of ergonomics and price/performance. If you can spend $100, buy a Sage 1. If you can't, buy a Tenacious or Persistence.

Why do you need to carry knives? Genuinely curious.

If you're a typical office worker (most of us), why would you ever need it?

I don't remember a last time I felt I needed a knife.

Kershaw is the only choice, IMO. Depending on your definition of cheap, like others said.

They probably have a decent quality (for the price, I would say 'excellent quality') knife that suits you for somewhere in the 20-40 buck range. They generally don't have slop, they hold up well (and easy to fix/adjust if they do have issues), the blades are decent steel, and they're the 'original' assisted open with a dead-simple spring system.

Top two results are both great. I've had a Chive for ages. The Leek is a little bigger, if desired.

The Tone is too 'tacticool' for some, but the handles are a nice material, and the blade is very good steel. I like tanto blades for their ability to function as an improvised 'x-acto' knife. And it also works as a hammer; chunky bastard.

Opening packages, cutting string, anything really. I use mine every day, I'd call myself an office worker most of the time.

I recently got a Kershaw Skyline

very thin profile and a great blade with smooth action.

Also : made in the USA 🙂

Thats not a knife..

My favorite one is just a $20 Gerber that is sharpened.

Its more of a camping style pocket knife but ya know, still a knife. Very rugged. You can flick it open with one hand with practice. Not a big deal.

Simplicity > all these $60 knives that are more complicated than the inside of a rolex.

The more you carry a knife the more you find uses for it :awe: Then you'll wonder how you lived without it.

Heh, i dunno. Though I'm not an office worker and won't be, I doubt I'll carry it very much if at all. I just kinda wanna nice utility knife.
Knives are so 16th century. Get a Glock.
😵 Cutting a rope/string or opening a box would be expensive given the price of ammunition these days.
