Thinking about getting a PDA...

Hello all, I saw at staples they have the Tungsten E palm pilot for 180 and I was thinking I'll finally get one. Can anyone tell me if this is a good pda? I was also looking at the Hot deals forum and they had quite a few deals on the dell axim pda's. Typically which ones are better? I won't be doing all that much complicated stuff on them, although being able to play video sounds really cool. Typically how long does the battery last on each charge? Could I watch a full movie on one charge? Also one other feature I'd like is the ability to work on a wireless G or B network. Thanks

UPDATE: I'm thinking about getting this one. I can get it for 200 with a CF 56k modem. Anyone have this or want to comment on it?
 
if you want to watch movies don't go with a palm based pda they suck for multimedia. you best be is to get a Pocket PC. just choose the best axim or ipaq you can afford and you'll be fine. if you can get one with a CF slot that would be better since its easier to get cheap large memory from those
 
Don't feel too bad...

I just got an AXIM X30 a few weeks ago. So far, so good although I haven't done much more than email, hotspot trotting, and GPS stuff with it.

The PPC format is nice if you want to do more things similar to a PC I suppose.

I'm not a big Palm fan, although I haven't had one in a long time and that experience was less than perfect. (Yes I slammed it on my desk after I had enough of the hotsynch crap!

Luckily, things have changed a lot since then. 🙂

yup the lower ends ones need to be a lower bit rate but once you get to the ones with 600mhz processors and ATI video chips they can run the 350mb per 45min ones I got on my computer for tv shows
 
Check out the thread where someone asking about a PDA with laptop features. Some of the palmtops I linked to are pretty dang sweet.
 
Get a Pocket PC for sure....

I use a player called BetaPlayer and watch all sorts of DivX movies on it with my 512 and 1 GB sd cards.
The dell x30 series had dropped a lot in price so that would be a good bet. I like the ipaqs better because of their feel, but they are a bit more expensive.
 
First decide what you'll be using it for

We have a nice iPaq at home. Dad used it, but battery life after lots of use was fading and he needed it less and less. He gave it to me, I got bored playing games on it so I had no use. I gave it to my brother who thinks it's cool right now and plays games from time to time.

Get an idea in your head what you'll use it for before you buy it
 
I've had my palm IIIx for yeqars and it's still chugging along great. I've often consedered getting something cooler has always overrulled that want (video card, mp3 player, etc).
