Check out the Canon Rebel XT and not just the plain Rebel. Better CCD, larger pics, and better reviews. I think it has the same size pics as the 20D but I could be off...

20D is a 8.2MP camera
Rebel XT (350D) is a 8.0MP camera
Rebel (300D) is a 6.3MP camera

There are many differences between the 350D and the 300D, the 350D is definitely worth the extra money over the 300D. The 20D is a high end prosumer digital SLR but the differences between it and the 350D are few. Still, I pine for the 20D...or better yet the 1D MkII.

If you're looking to get into a digital SLR though I'd recommend the 350D. The big money will, and should, be spent upgrading lenses anyway. :D

You also need to go hold the cameras in store and play with them, then buy them online. The 350D has a much smaller grip than the 300D and to me, it feels funny. The D70 and 20D are much heavier than both, which gives them a better feeling as well.

ok cool, thanks. I'm gonna check out the 350D (Rebel XT).
I'm looking for a camera that will output high quality photos, hopefully this should do it. I currently have an olympus z420 or something like that lol

Yah, I still use my powershot G3. Only problem now is I have like 5 freaking dead pixels on the CCD so I have to photoshop any pic I want to print.

This was taken this evening at about 6:30PM, by me, with my 300D and 70-200mm f/4L lens.

Edit-No flash, handheld, 100% crop...typical marine layer overcast evening in SoCal.
