test drove a 1998 volvo v70 GLT wagon, white with tan leather interior, sun roof, all the goodies (turbo 197hp). 82,000 miles. we agreed on a price (9,000) and im having the car looked at by an indepedant volvo repair shop first thing monday morning.

any thoughts? im hoping the car will last 5 years? its a volvo riiiight? 😀

i dont have any pics, but it looks identical to this one

its either this or a 99/00 civic/accord ... honda might be a little more reliable but the volvo is so much more luxury.

hehe im single and 25 so it is kinda wierd, but have always loved wagons for some reason (my family has always had a hatchback growing up)

What!? Haha.. have u looked into subarus? You might as well be gettin a minivan bro.. unless you aren't in the chix0rz.. not that theres anything wrong with that.

I can't really imagine picking up a chick on a first date without having to explain that its not my moms car.. 😛

Yes it will last 5 years.
Work the price down another $500-1000 and you should be golden.

subarus are pretty rare around here, i was looking into impreza wagons, they just dont exist. plus im on the central coast in california ... cars are pretty expensive in general here (since they need to be ca smogged there are less to choose from, and everybody makes more money generally so the prices inflate). i will try and work on the price a little though.

there are actually some studies done, and women dont actually care what kind of car you drive. as long as its not a total pos... they just dont care about stuff like that. perhaps your buying into movies like 2 fast 2 furious?

Nice car but bring down the price even more, what's the blue book on it?

Also, take it to another mechanic or two that you know charges a lot, tell the owner of the car these are the issues and this is what I'll pay. Volvo's like most other german/swedish cars will have many minor issues as they age, with electronics mostly. Most of the issues are minor ones that aren't hard to fix on your own, but they're still issues you have to deal with.

private party blue book is 8,400, dealer blue book is 11,200. this car is from a dealer. ya the shop i had them take it to is the most expensive in town 😀 so hopefully they give it a thorough run through.
