Thinking about buying a Hummer H3... thoughts?

Have you considered the Land Rover Sport? They're nice. I'm not sure if you can get them in the US however.

H3's are really big and SLOW. They're really nice on the inside, though.. The windows are small and it makes for a 'darker' interior.

Though, I'd much prefer my Jeep.. 5.7litre Hemi, 4x4, leather, sunroof, navigation, bluetooth, etc etc.. Jeep Grand Cherokees and Jeep Commanders are a lot less expensive than H3s too.

My Jeep is pretty fast as far as SUV's go..

IMO, I'd get a Jeep Grand Cherokee, Commander, or Chevvy Trailblazer SS over an H3 any day.

EDIT: Don't forget Land Rover too.. I'd say pretty much any 2-year-old or less Land Rover is better than an H3.

The H3 is a decent SUV. Does pretty well off road.

If you plan on doing any wheeling, I would strongly suggest the new JK.
This is the new 2007 4-door Wrangler. It's head and shoulders above any other suv, as far as offroad worthiness, including the current TJ. I've seen these things in action and they are the most capable vehicles in stock form that I've ever seen. They also look pretty cool!

I'll be putting my Jeep on the block soon and will be picking up an '07 Wrangler.

Well... I never said that I wanted speed in the vehicle... however I'm a little upset about the power for a vehicle that size. It doesn't have to go 100 miles an hour... like I siad before... I drive a 4 banger jeep with over sized tires... so I can get over the speed. I really like the interior... I've driven one and they don't have a bad drive which is definitely key.

I don't mind the Rovers... a friend of mine has a Range rover which isn't too bad, but they're about 30-40k more expensive than I want to pay.

I'd buy an old Military H1 and fix it up, but I don't have that kind of money not to mention the mileage is awful ...as if an H3's had bragging rights...

I haven't checked out the manual transmission on the H3 but the automatic is a nice drive. I heard the Manual Transmission on the H2's were a kind of loose... so I don't expect the transmission on the H3 to be much better.

You are buying a GM SUV with a different body. You are giving up utility for style and by doing so you are no different than 99% of the people on this board.

If you like the looks which I do too, then buy it.

What's the difference in HP and torque between the old engine and the new one?

Im always up for getting a Hummer 🙂

I only read the OP so this may have been covered already, but get the H2... The H3 is kinda girly IMO

Now I'm coming out of college earning some decent money, I can afford an H3. So the whole "guy's vehicle" is a pretty sizable factor as to why I want one.

If by "guy's vehicle" you mean "soccer mom's vehicles"... well, yes. Do yourself a favor and don't blow a lot of money on a car right out of college.

buy a used H1. Much better idea IMO

😕 An H1 is a vehicle with a very specific purpose. It is a good second vehicle, not a good daily driver.

The 07 H3 inline 5 engine has 20 more HP, I don't know if that helps. It's a decent off-road suv. There are plenty of choices out there, I prefer the Nissan xterra over the H3. The Xterra is a little cheaper, more powerful engine, decent off-road capability.
