Thinking about buying a camera or electronics from online stores out of NYC?

Why do you wanna buy from Crooklyn? Just buy from J&R or Bhphotovideo.com in manhattan. Those guys are for real.

B&H and J&R sell their items for largely retail prices, although for higher priced items you may be able to haggle it down a little. The appeal of these smaller "NYC" stores for digital cameras is their advertised low prices often befcause of grey market items and/or accessories pushes when you confirm their order over the phone. That being said, I agree that B&H and J&R will be a better choice to shop.

Yeah, our Pioneer rep showed us a compilation of pics a few weeks ago, of internet "storefronts" that were selling their elite plasmas...very interesting pics, to say the least. I like the picture of a large steel door on the side of a brick building with the word "Showroom" spraypainted above it.

Thats funny.. my friend bought a camera off one of these.. found out it was grey market 1 month in and required warranty service.. to say the least.. he was fubar since grey market stuff are not warranted, he lost 350 on a canon camera

Like everyone else said B&H and J&R are the best bets if you want to buy out of NYC. I recently got myself a Sony T1. The cheapest price on the camera was at a local store near my house, but the memory sticks were a ripoff there. So I decided to take a day trip in to Manhattan, and while there went to J&R, and the memory sticks were on sale for a much cheaper price, so I picked them up.
