nice car... :) hard to find a manual if thats what you're looking for. my friend had one... feels rather soft and numb... but i guess all Lexus cars are like that.

it sure looks a lot better than the sc430 now... :frown:

My friend bought a 93 SC300 Auto... got stolen before he can finish up his insurance and registration. :( They stole the car right outside of his house while he was having breakfast..

Sweet @ss car though man....sunroof, 6 cd changer in trunk...Gold Paint... Leather... and it was a straight 6.. :( DAAAAAAAAAMNNN YOOOOUS....
(he drives a 4 cylinder 03 Altima now... which gets 17mpg... :Q )

Other than the fact that its a hot car for burglars to steal... GET IT..... Just be sure to get Lojack and Have a Garage to put it in every night. If you can...get a 6 speed manual... then it really flies.

Dude...... it would be the coolest car in the world (actually exactly like a jap soarer i believe) if you swapped in the 1JZGTTE

$2,500 for the front clip link

just go for a 2jzgte... since it already has a 2jzge... :) easier said than done... i don't know why he would want to go through that all over again though since he swapped an SR20 in his 240

'98 SC300 only came in auto, '97 was the last year it came with the 5-speed and there were only around 500 or so, very rare. But the '98 has better leather and the not-so-error prone 12 disc cd changer of previous years. I'd get one ;)

the sc400 doesn't come with a 2jzgte.

a lot people have had sucess with bolt on turbo's to the 2jzge in the sc300. even more have had huge sucesses swaping in usdm 2jzgte's and doing single turbo conversions.

oh and btw.. usdm 2jzgte > jdm 2jzgte

My stepfather had an sc300 for somewhere around 10 years, and loved it. He recently traded it for an sc430 (which he also likes, and which is in all honesty a beautiful car in person), but still misses the sc300 at times. It was a manual (5-speed), and the few chances that I had to drive it were great. It was actually the first car that I learned how to drive stick-shift on. Good stuff. Of course, he later spoiled me even more by letting me learn how to drive a motorcycle on his Ducati. I will be forever grateful.

i think the lexus wheel designer was high when he designed those
plates". one could literally eat off of them.

The SC300 came out in what, 1990? Then it didn't get much of an update for the whole 8-9 year production run. I think that better cars have come along since then for the money. I do remember test driving a manual SC300 with my father when I was 16. Pretty fun experience (but my dad didn't buy one.)

cool post

i'm in the market for one of those myself. does anyone know what the gas mileage is? i drive a tahoe right now and I spend about 140-150 bucks a week in gas, I want to go with a smaller car and try to save a few dollars in gas. I was planning on getting another car anyway so with gas prices rising this is a good excuse to start looking around. What grade of gas would I need to put in a Lex, premium or mid-grade? Are they reliable cars even with higher mileage?
