How much better is using a special heatsink and fan versus the stock cooling? And could I get some recommendations for a good fan to pair with it?

much better than stock (actually depends on which stock, for example the stock coolers on high end AMDs are pretty good), a good panaflo fan (92mm) would be a good choice

I'm thinking of buying the AMD64 3200+, would that come with a good heatsink and fan or should I buy something else?

I'm thinking of OCing which is why it might be nice to make sure I have a setup that can do it.

Get the Xp-90 if Ocing, if not then just keep it with stock. Then again I would get a better cooling solution anyway because when summer rolls around you don't wanna worry about your CPU running extremely hot.

Okay I think I'll give the xp-90 a whirl, so where can I get it for cheap and is the stock fan good enough?

Okay my stock temperatures with my INTEL approved stock heatsink were....47c at idle and 74c at load...

With the Zalman 9500 my idle temp was 27c....and under load was approx 38....

With Zalman I have myself overclocked to a paltry 3.8 mhz.....from 3.2 and there was absolutely very little difference in the temps....

With my XP120 I am seeing the exact same temps as with the 9500.......

If you get the XP 90 I would get the XP90 copper....

Good Luck!!

I wish that i had put a XP-90 on my Clawhammer 3200 and that <$30 Al model at Jab-Tec
would do nicely. Your CPU does support Cool&Quiet, so fan noise is less of an issue.
The XP-90 in aluminum rates well in most conparison tests. Might just order one myself
this Tuesday.
