Thinking about an upgrade and I need some advice

I currently have a P4 2.8 GHz running at about 3.0 GHz in my current system. I picked up Doom 3 recently, and realized that my video card could use an upgrade. Sadly, my current motherboard (MSI 845 Ultra-ARU) would hinder the performance of any card I get since it's only a 4X AGP board. I'm now thinking about upgrading my motherboard and keeping the same non-HT P4 CPU in there as my CPU speed is absolutely fine. I was just wondering which board I should use since I would like to have future upgradeability. The Asus P4C800-E Deluxe looks incredibly good to me, but I'm not sure if my current CPU would work in there. If it would, then hell-yeah that's the board I'd be getting. I also want to be sure that putting my current CPU in there wouldn't cause any problems in terms of functionality. Sorry for the not-so-coherent rambling of this post here, but it's kind of late. heh. I'd appreciate any advice I could get. (My rig can be found in my profile).

I would get an 865pe board such as the abit is7 ($83 newegg). I use an msi 865pe neo2 LS and it overclocks better than any other board I've tried. It's running my 2.8c at 3.5 (250 fsb), but the temps are reading too high, about 10 higher than my spare board.
