Thinking about a wireless network...

I have a 4-port wired router (DI-604, cable modem) that has my desktop and my laptop attached to it. It's a pain in the ass to lug the laptop around the house with the network cable plugged in all the time (ghetto fabulous), so what kind of wireless equipment would you recommend on a budget and whats the best way to configure the network? Both sets are on Win2K, and in the next month or so, I'm going to be adding another dektop PC (win2k or XP) to the network. Dont really have a big house but I'd like to be able to take the laptop into the backyard occasionally. It'll mainly be used for Internet access, and occasional file transfers.

hehe..I saw that link in your post from another wireless thread and been browsing around that site for a while...I may just get the D-Link 624/DWL-G650 bundle from buy.com...I love the ease of use of the DI-604 I currently have, might as well stick with the brand that works. Thanks Jack 😀

Hi,

You already have a working network, Just add an access point for the wireless. If you are really worried about security, Just unplug the network cable that connects the access point to the router when you are not using it. I use a Dlink 704 router and a Dlink 6000 Access Point. Works for me.
