I currently have a e6600 system built with an x1900xt. Recently the voltage reg has been over heating (i think). It artifacts in simple games like Empire Earth, so rather than messing with it I'm thinking up stepping up to a dx10 card. I'm looking at the evga 8800gts 320mb and evga 8800gts 512 mb (g92). Is the g92 worth the extra $90 to get the newer gpu? Also I want to rule out the power supply being my issue from my last video card, is the below video card strong enough to run the 8800gts 320 or 512mb? All i have hooked up is the vide card, dvd burner, a few fans and seagate 320 gig hd.

Thanks!

I got my 512 gts OC (MSI) for $229 - $30 rebate from the egg.

The 512 is more than worth it in my opinion. I went from a x1800xt to a 8800gt which I returned for the 8800gts oc. I am very satisfied with my video card for now.

Other cards you should consider:

8800GT
HD3870
9600GT
8800GS

The 8800GT being the fastest of the four, they all draw less power than the 8800GTS 320mb. For todays and future games 512mb is recommended. 320mb doesn't really cut it unless you play at low resolutions.

Heres a table comparing the 8800GTS 320bm and 8800GTS 512MB, plus other cards. Only lacking the HD3870 which is on a par with the 9600GT 512mb.

That PSU is fine running a 8800GTS whether its G80 or G92, i believe the X1900XT draws more power than both.
