Think you've had a hard landing?

OMG.. so much flex.. how would that have sounded inside.?

Actually all you probably hear is one big bang at the beginning and lots of burning rubber from the tires, huh .. wow !
p.s. and lots of screaming !

Why was it taped? Were they expecting that to happen?

Probably a Boeing test. Notice the lack of buildings and control tower in the background? 😉

DAMN! Thats a hard landing. I'm suprised he didnt shove a wheel strut through the fuselage at that rate. And I've heard of such things happening, although it was in the military and not a commercial aircraft.

Oh, and it was a McDonnellDouglas test/demo flight, they actually meant to land hard, but not quite that hard. The crewmembers, expecting a hard landing, didnt even know the tail came off until they looked back and saw sky.

It didn't even look like the landing was that hard.
You're kidding me right?

The plane wasn't descending that fast. It didn't look like it hit hard enough that it should have broken the tail off the plane.

I wouldn't trust low quality video footage to make a valid conclusion. On TV NASCAR racing doesn't look that fast, but when experiencing it in real life the cars are nothing more than a constant blur of colors.

A plane would have to hit very hard to make the whole thing convulse like it did on the second bounce.

Do you know anything about mass and inertia?
