Think you're good? Then solve this mouse problem.

Has this guy tried the mouse on another PC? I see he has tried different mice, so i would say it's the mouse port somehow. To fix it...Contact Abit and see if they will RMA the board or get another board. 😀

If he has tried every configuration (i.e., new mobo & mouse, new graphics card & mouse, etc.) then the problem is not with the mouse itself. It has to be operator error.

to eliminate mouse or ps2 port, use a balled mouse and take out theball and play with one and only one direction rod. see if it goes wacko if you spin the verticle axis. then see if it goes wacko if you use the horizontal axis. another thingy to mention is the surface. try different surfaces, maybe a ratpadz of sorts, many people love those. if all of this fails and i see that a new motherboard and almost everything has been changed , then i would guess that it was maybe some interference from something, maybe earthquakes? maybe he shouldnt jack off while using phot shop 😛 (sorry just had to go there!)

at any rate...good luck!

LMAO loosbrew. 😀 I like your roller idea. That should absolutely draw perfect horz/vert lines.

I think he should repeat the screen draw test on a different (working) system to make sure it's not "human" error.

I agree with you guys that is soundslike huma error, but acording to the guy having the prob, it is not. The only thing he hasn't tried is another MB.

Bought a new Motherboard Abit KT7A

He tried a new mobo. Sounds like it's essentially a new system. The only constant I see is the person operating the mouse. (I'm not trying to be a schmuck, but he is the only constant)

Taking into consideration that the guy is from Finland maybe he is just shivering from the cold and can't draw a straight line.
Possible solution: HEAT YOUR ROOM ! j/k

I just briefly looked at his page...has he tried using the serial port on these mice vs. the PS/2 port? How bout the monitor itself? Was that changed?

Whoa, only few hours and so many replies, thanks people. Now, the error is not in me, just look at the picture on the page. the top of the vertical line. I started from bottom, and as you can see it changed the direction very straight. A hand could not draw that kind of line just like that. It's too straight to be 'my hand'.
Oh and about trying on other machines, I have two computers, see? So far I haven't noticed any problems with the mice on that one...

Now...I remember trying with a ball mouse (like loosbrew suggested) and both of the axises 'go wacko' so it's not the mouse (that should be pretty obvious, thinking that I tried 3 different mice)

I have also tried different surfaces so that can't be it either. Tried table surface, mouse pad, paper etc.

If you check the message board I mentioned on the page I have added a few new things I've tried. I welcome all new ideas as I'm running out of options here.

I'm gonna try moving this thing to another room later, in case there's something in this room that could be interfering, though I doubt it. And the other machine I have isn't affected, so...

i see this everyday at work, but its usually either the mouse or the os. and assuming you formatted and reinstalled the os again i cant think of what now! if it were a laptop on a docking station usually you would have to disable the pointing devices in the bios, but seeing as how you just got a new mobo and all i dont think thats it...maybe try a different os? win2k? win98? linux? that is if your up for experiementing.

good luck
loosbrew

Yeah, well I have so much stuff on my HD, and in windows registry etc blah blah, so reinstalling/changing os would be the last thing I'm gonna do, so...
And if it would be the os, then I wouldn't be the only one having these problems, right?

I have a similar problem, maybe not quite the same but with no solution either. I get erratic behavior with my MS Explorer Optical when I play either Q3A or UT. When I push the mouse to move one way it either over drifts to far or tries to rotate my position in the game (going in circles if I let it). When I exit the game it gets real strange. If I highlight one icon it randonly highlighs 3 or 4 or 5 at a time !! If I try to use the wheel scrool in explorer it will not scroll the page but instead change my URL in history !! I've had this problem now for
6 months. I've run the gamit on fixes from MS knowledgebase to dame forums ects.

This doesn't happen all the time, but lots when I play. Only a system reboot restores it to normal. It works fine then until I play again. Any ideas ? We might both be served here.

System:
P3-650
Abit BX6-R2
256 Micron Cas2 PC100
Umax 3400 scanner
Creative CDROM 48x
HP 3100 CDRW 10 x 4 x 32
30 gig Maxtor ata/100
8.4 gig WD

for smith
this might sound totaly stupid to you, but try it.
something like a shift, or tab, or alt key on your keyboard might be semi locked... so when you reboot, and your keyboard resets, its fixed, try a friends keyboard...

as for the original guy, its not clear weather or not you've tried the suggestion about taking the ball it, and moving one roller at a time with your finger...

otherwise, i blame the user, and a poorly orientaed mouse in the windows settings.

If it would be a windows setting, then why would it still be like that after I format/install win95 and instantly try the mouse...

And I did try the ball mouse rollers, and they didn't work like they should. randomly changing direction like I've told from the beginning...

Oh, and some more news, it seems to be affecting my joystick port also. This is not 100% sure but it has almost identical problems...

Try getting a "backup" copy to "temporarily" test Windows 98 (not 95) from a friend.
If that don't fix it...

Pull everything out of your system. Install only your new mobo, RAM, hdd, cdrom, which you need, and the video card.

Take everythign else out.

If your problem still exists, the answer lies in one of those devices...if you have no problem after you do all that...then guess what, the problem is in one of the other devices which aren't installed, or it was Windows 95 in the first place.

It's just what I would do.

By the way...I have weird things w/ my computer(s) and 80 gig drives too. It's a pretty big problem....see if anyone here can fix it. I think there's a rule for not posting your thread in other ppls threads...but if anyone is good w/ 80 gig drives, and would know why my drives run really really slow on 1 computer, but not on another computer, please PM me!

Thanks,

Tibor

Interference with something else, maybe a television, or a radio system, or a fridge, or his microwave.... just to name something. 70% sure.

Nope, ain't that either, I tried moving the whole thing (well, only those things that are needed) to another place and nothing...just the same old stupid...mouse problem... 🙁
