Think we will ever see a RAM based laptop?

That would just be the Shizzit. Like some magnetic based non-volitel ram drive ~20gigs worth, in a Tiny package. Just enough to surf and do word processing. With a battery that worked as long as a cell phone.

Of course we will, my uncle is the manager at the micron FAB in Manassas VA. I went for a tour and they had a 10 year technology prognosis.

They asked me to to discuss anything past the 5 year mark but in the next 24 months they already had instant on laptops, high storage nand memory.

And Also apple seems to have PREEMPTIVELY purchased almost 12 months of their nand memory output.

Imagine their fab works 24 hours a day 7 days a week 365 days a year, and Apple has preemptively purchased an entire years worth of nand memory production.. BIG THINGS coming in the next few years.. 🙂

I think we'll see it, but not immideatly. Need to improve the cost of non-volitale solutions, and you need to extend their lifetime by a whole lot. I think you can only write to flash memory something silly, like 1000, or 10k times, before it'll go bad on you.

More like hundreds of thousands of times. I just finished writing a research design prospectus for diffusion of innovations for my mass comm grad class and that was part of the research...

I live 5 minutes from there. I wonder if it'd be a nice place to work at. I don't see to much traffic in the mornings. Too bad they don't have software engineering positions at that plant (I'd apply in a heart beat).
