Think this is worth writing a complaint letter to DQ?

They are franchised, so i dunno how good writing a letter to the corporate offices might do.

Nevertheless, last night we stopped by a local fairly new dairy queen on the way back from a trip on our friends boat. All we wanted as a soda and a small blizzard to split.

Anyway, upon entering the store, i had to pee so i walked back to the bathroom and let Danielle (fiancee) to go order. As i'm walking back, there are three employees standing next to a table near the entrance to the bathroom. As i get closer, i hear them saying back and forth to each other 'F*** You, you mother f**ker' and things of the same nature. Whatever, not very appropriate for employees to be talking like this but I curse, so i don't really care. So as i pass by, their "spirited" conversation turned into a pushing match and what do ya know, the smaller girl pushes the guy right into me. He hits me, turns around, and says "F**k man" looks at the girl and says "look what you f**king did".

Anyway, so i go pee, come back and see Danielle has just ordered. With roughly 7-8 employees behind the counter, you would think such a simple order would be quick to fill. Well, I guess not when all the people behind the counter want to do is tell stories about their day/boyfriends/etc with quite colorful language. I may be mistaken, but i believe in the 10 or so minutes it took to fill the order i heard, F**k and variants of the word about 10-15 more times, along with other language IMO inappropriate for a store. The manager was right there, older guy, kept asking if all the orders were filled, and the employees just kept ignoring him and going on with their stories. Anyway, after we asked for the where our food was, they finally made it and gave it to us.

Think a letter would do any good? Corporate or the local owner?

I don't think the manager of the DQ will do much, after all, it's a manager of a DQ. You can't be that shocked at that behavior, as it is in fact a DQ.

I would be pissed off about that though. I would write a formal complaint to DQ headquarters and I would inform them of the situation, that I would not be returning, and that I will share my experience with others.

Jeez, what's wrong with kids these days? 😕 It should be common sense that language like that isn't appropriate at work.

Don't waste your time OP most fast food places are like this now. Things like that are the reason I like to stay in the car whenever possible. The other reason is that drive thru customers always seem to get faster service.

If they get fired from the DQ this week I seriously BK is going to call to check references next week so they don't give a crap

I agree. There's a Wendys near my work that i go to for lunch sometimes. I usually prefer to go inside at fast food places, even if it's to-go. But the few times I did it at this place, it seems as if Wendys hires the most imcompetent, unintelligent, slow, knuckle headed employees. They'll ask me what I want to drink, I say "Pibb". The girl looks away, then says "Huh, what drink" and I say "Pibb" and this will go on for a few more seconds until the poor thing can concentrate on my words for more than 1 second.

Maybe. Franchises have to keep it's stores a certain way. They certainly haven't portrayed DQ as a friendly place, at least that location.

service at places like that in the us sucks... its SUCH a change here in Japan. yoshinya the fast food for japan has amazing service. Its like your at a sit down place.

Go ahead & write the letter ... it won't do much good improving that particular DQ, but the corporate office will almost certainly send you some coupons for free stuff!

First, write a letter to the local franchise owner. Their address will be posted somewhere in the DQ restaurant.

Then, call up your local TV station news crew, tell them about the totally inappropriate behavior going on there, that you think they may even be a hazard to their customers because of the low standards in employees they have. Get them to do a consumer awareness story on it.

Reap the rewards.

unless you goto in n out where it seems everyone is super friendly. Ive never seen friendlier employees in a fastfood environment. I guess thats what happens when you start employees off at around $10 a hour, they respect their job more.

And I think it's sad that kids think like that. I had crappy jobs when I was young, but I still worked hard and acted appropriately.

My local DQ rocks!!! Granted ... I worked there for 3 years and 2 stores my the same owner. We got paid well, VERY well for fast food. One of my friends who worked there through HS and college was making 15 an hour at the end. I think it really depends on the owner, my owner rocked and kept us happy, so we kept the customers happy. I doubt this was going on at the DQ you went too 😉

Write to corporate. And keep writing until you get a response. It'll likely be more than an apology.

Odds are that his letter won't even be read completely. They'll just put his address into their "We are sorry for the inconvience" form letter, and toss a couple of coupons in the envelope.

If you accept the worthless coupons, yes. But if you do what I said, you'll be reimbursed for your inconvenience.
