Maybe not that deal exactly, but there will probably be a similar deal after Christmas, etc.

If your rebate checks are money you can spend anywhere, then there will definitely be a deal like that somewhere.

Dunno what Canadian prices normally look like, but here in the US something like that would be ~$600-650.
Personally I'd rather have an i5 laptop with an SSD than a weak U-i7 and a crap 5400RPM HDD. And that 2 cell battery, lol!

Example @ $550, also includes a GDDR5 940m:

Unless you desperately need a laptop now, I'd say wait...you're bound to find a similar or better deal later, or a better laptop in general.
For $800 I'd want a quad core (minimum i5-6300HQ) and 256GB+ SSD (maybe 128 + HDD). Along with a nice screen, wifi (Intel 8260 not 3160 etc), and more than a 2 cell battery.

Yeah the rebate ONLY works at Costco, so Costco.ca is my online shopping portal.

I am not too worried about the HDD because you need to spend a LOT more to get a SSD of a reasonable size in a laptop, I might as well just get the best CPU/RAM combo and upgrade to a 512 or 1gb SSD when I buy it?

I worded it badly, I meant this spec of PC, not this exact one :)

My current Laptop if it matters: HP AMD Turion Dual Core 2.2ghz Cpu, 4gb ram, 80GB SSD.

I find the fan is loud as heck, it has always run very hot. I think its a ~2008 Laptop?

Looking forward to a new laptop!!!

Pretty sure you can go to the customer service desk with that rewards check and get it cashed.

And yeah, I think you could use a laptop upgrade...when a $200 cell phone could whoop it's ass lol.

Still, I think you can get a lot more for the money than a low powered U series dual core (even if it claims to be an i7) a crappy HDD and a 2 Cell battery. There's absolutely nothing special about that laptop, especially not for $800.
