after the instructors i work with on a nationwide photo workshop i run sold me on think tank, i now have 3 of their bags.

a streetwalker pro harddrive, a shape-shifter, and a speed racer along with some lens changer pouches.

so far this is some very well thought out gear design and it feels quite tough. i look forward to putting this stuff through its paces.

anyone else use Think Tank gear?

Compared to Lowepro, the TT lens cases have hardly any shock absorbent material, right? I've never used TT, but I heard from a TT user that this was her main complaint.

that is correct for some bags. in fact think tank was founded by a breakaway team of lowepro designers who felt that bags didnt have to be as bulky as lowepro made them all the time from the info i got.

the shapeshifter has minimal padding. however the streetwalker harddrive i have is very well padded. the speed racer which is a belt pack, is medium padded. the lens pouches that go onto a waistbelt that i have are definitely less padded than the lowepro ones i have.

I have been looking at the Think Tank bags and really like their look and style, but they are much more expensive then Lowepro, Kata, or Tamrac. FBB, they have several different models, some which have the "benefit" of no padding so they fold flat and easier to transport. Additionally they never, ever, go on sale.

Got the Speed Demon a couple weeks ago and whatever model Lowe Pro makes a competitor. Took the Lowe Pro out of the box and put it back after comparing it with the Speed Demon. The TT SD is a great pack!

The LP Sling I have is a great bag too though.

yeah i have the speed racer, shapeshifter and the streetwalker harddrive.

love them all.

the shapeshifter is great for crowded urban areas. bring your gear to the office or what not, then zip it down so it's low profile while you carry your camera around. i can have the bag compressed even with a canon 100mm macro and a 70-300IS in the neoprene lens puoches while i carry aroudn my 30d.
