I was reinstalling XP on my system, and it had finished copying files and was restarting, when all of the sudden the computer hangs and gives me a "Verifying DMI Pool Data......." error. I've tried every combination of drives plugged in and not plugged in, and it only gets past this when my main hdd isn't plugged in...The sad part is that this hdd isn't even that old. I have another hdd in there that's about 6 years old that is working flawlessly.

Is it clicking? Is it SATA or IDE? Have you tried unplugging everything except that drive, clear the CMOS and then see how far you get?
