Any particular reason he painted it after he put it together? I figured if you were going to paint, you'd do while it's apart. Maybe painting was an afterthought.

I'd be scared to paint before assembly. There are too many critical surfaces that need to be spotless to prevent leaks and stay within machining tolerances.

I hadn't even read the comments until now.

This seems like a catastrophic waste of time. While you spent 11 months tinkering with your toy I spreaded intellect and atheism to the internet, hit platinum in League of Legends, Finished my mono white deck in MTG and watched every episode of My Little Pony for the 4th time not to mention winning countless internet debates and wooing ladies like it's my job.
