So I just finished my HTPC build about a week ago and everything seemed to be working great...for a few days. Then I started getting random BSOD's maybe once or twice a day. After the most recent BSOD however, the PC refuses to even POST. Although everything is spinning (fans, drives, etc) nothing comes up on screen. I've found that switching the configuration of my 2 RAM sticks does nothing to fix this, BUT, if i remove the 2nd ram stick completely, I can POST once again. I've tried almost every possible configuration now with one/both sticks and the only way to POST is to have the 1st stick in the 1st ram slot on the mobo. As soon as I move the first stick to another slot or put in the second stick in any slot (even alone in the first slot) the system refuses to POST.
SPECS:
AMD 5050e Brisbane
2 2GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2
PC Power and Cooling 420W PSU
Nvidia 9600GT PCI-X video card
Asus 780G microatx motherboard (M3878-EM)
VISTA Ultimate 64bit
I can't even run MEMTEST to confirm that the 2nd stick is bad. So, do I just go ahead and RMA? Is there any other way to be sure that this is a bad stick of RAM I have?
TIA,
Mitch
