Think it's worth it to play through Final Fantasy 7 again?

So whatta ya think?

I'm currently playing Star Ocean, Fable, Hot Shots Golf Fore, and Burnout 3.

Do you guys think it'd be worth it to hook up the PS1 to play through FF7 again? Not that I really need to or anything, but I haven't played pretty much since I beat it months after it came out. I've tried to do it before in the past, but the beginning just drags so damn much that I couldn't deal with it.

Anyone think I should try again? 😀

I gotta get Star Ocean too... I just ordered Katamari Damacy and DDRX though, and preorderd the SE of HL2 🙂

I'm getting a copy of FF7 to play again through on Monday.
I never did the weapons, or got a gold Chobcobo first time, so for me it's gonna be worth it I hope.

I have a copy for pc that I have never played, I enjoyed 1,2,3 and 10 and he keeps telling me that 7 one of the best. I'm just afraid I'm going to hate it because it will look so old, then again I played chronotrigger again the other day and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I personally don't think 7 is one of the best. I LOVED the first part of the game when you are in that big city (Midgar?? forgot the name). When you leave that big place and start the overworld I thought the game went downhill big time. its just me though.. I thought the pinnacle of the series was part 6. I like 10 though. Noticed that nobody ever mentions FF9. Was it that unmemorable??

FF3 > FF7 > FF2 > FF1

Go Cloud, go!!!

FF7 was the reason I bought Playstation. Back in "the old days" Sony was a small-bit player in the console wars and I wasn't too hot on buying one of their systems. But with FF7, there was no question that I NEEDED to buy buy buy. Ah, I can still remember the commericals touting the cinematic sequences that have a become a staple of Final Fantasy.

FF7 was a great adventure and I think I played it through 2 or 3 times with difft character combinations which I think really adds to the replay value. And if you didn't find Yuffi or the vampire guy on the first run through, now is your chance!

Yeah. 9 was a sad attempt to do another (a last?) medieval-style final fantasy, and it was awful IMO. It felt too childish, and you inevitably end up hating the characters.

Oh and I think it's totally worthwhile to replay ff7. It's really long, so it's not quite the same as replaying some of the SNES Square games as I have been recently. But if you've got the time, go for it.

I remember 8 being crap, but I only played about 10 hours of 9 and remember liking it, but not enough to keep it going.... Vivi was cool sh!t!

There was some stuff about 9 that was really cool. The "feel" of the environments (graphics + audio basically) was really good. But damn, I hated the characters and story. It actually took me a while to realize that though. I think it was more than 10 hours. (quite a bit more IIRC)

Heh, maybe it was a good thing that I stopped then 🙂

If you liked it, why not?

I probably will sooner or later, I have it for the PC. It'd be interesting to see how it runs with this computer.

I've pretty much completely beaten Crono Trigger over the past couple of months (Not too much playing time.)

I attempted to get into FF4 (Which was previously 2? Or something like that?) But I just couldn't deal...the graphics were just wayyyyyyy too bad 😀

I could see myself playing through 7 again but the beginning of the game's just so damn slow 😀

Sure, it might be good to go through Final Fantasy VII again, considering all the semi-sequels coming out for FF7 within the next year or so (i.e. Final Fantasy VII - Advent Children (DVD movie),

Personally though, I did not feel that Final Fantasy VII was the "best FF" game. I feel that honor goes to Final Fantasy VI (known as III in the U.S.). The game felt more "epic" and the characters in that game seemed more likeable, in my opinion. I thought VI's storyline & ending were much more satisfying than VII's. And who could ever forget Kefka's (VI's villain) laugh? 😛

My favorite FFs from most liked to least liked:

VI > IV > VII > VIII > X > XI > V > IX > II > III > I

My first time through FFXI... I got all the materia, gold chocobo and defeated the weapons. In all with materia guides and weapon guides.... I completed the game in 80-85 hours.

If you could give me ANY good game that came out in the past 2-3 years that would last me that long in SP or even last over 20 hours.... Id be grateful.

For purely single player purposes, I think FFVII is the longest game Ive played.... perhaps BG2 was like that but it wasnt my type of RPG. Too much micromanagement and the combat felt stilted but each to their own. Im an old Diablo2 player so go figure 🙂.

I just replayed FFVII about a year ago and like the story just as well as the first time I played the game

IMHO of the FF games I have played:

7 > 10 > 8 > 1 and 2 (PS1 version) > 10-2 > 9.

The major Knock about 10-2 is that Yuni is such a whiny bleep, compared to the end of FFX.
