I was holding out to get a Porsche Boxster. 2006-2008 S model, had it all planned out, but it's just not going to happen anytime soon. My daughter is going to start college in 2 years, my son need braces, the family wants a nice vacation this year, and now my daughter is going to need a car because the campus for her early college courses is 15 miles away.

So, I decided to give her my trusty and reliable Scion xA and get me a fun daily driver for the next two years.

This BMW 330i Convert caught my eye. I'm headed to Chicago this week, so I might make a pit stop to pick it up if everything checks out. Any comments on what to look for, price, etc?

I would look for an oil cooler....:p

I'm thinking the 3.0 and the 3.2L are some of the most solid engines BMW has made (I wouldn't buy this car with a 2.5 or 2.8). I like the fact it has both Carfax and Autocheck included with it. The dealer also has a climate controlled warehouse for his cars. That tells me they only gets decent cars because they don't want to deal with problems.

I had a 99 328 sedan with 212 km on the till - it was a great car. Only thing I ever replaced was the usual radiator overflow. I'm not a big fan of convertibles, but if that's your thing go for it.

I live in the country and want a roadster, but I'm too big for one and need 4 seats. It's a good compromise. I'm not going to be tracking it.

Fair enough. Then those would be perfect either black or silver one. I don't like silver and grey interor or the fact its automatic id go with the black 02 330ci but that's just me

You should look at facelift E46s coupes (2004 -2006); better looking, all the bugs were ironed out, upgraded transmission, LEDs taillights, etc... All for not much more if you're looking at E46s.

I'm probably going to get this one for $9000, and I wanted to stay under $10k as I'm going to mostly pay cash for it.

This is getting interesting. We're going to Chicago tomorrow, and the car is on the Indiana/Illinois boarder. The plan is to stop by Friday on the way back, buy it, then my wife drives the van back while I drive the car.

Kind of an adventure! A lame adventure...but hey, I'm boring like that.

At that mileage the cooling system will need replaced (a few hundred dollars and a day to do it yourself iirc)

Nothing wrong with that. I drove to another city to see a Louis CK show once in the wife's corolla. Then I drove my subaru outback home while the wife drove the corolla.

Got a PPI, mechanic said the engine is great, seals are great, clutch should last another 30-50K miles, brakes will last another 15K miles, but it does need new tires soon.
