I need a new (used) car. I saw an '88 prelude si with 4 wheel steering for $4500 (canadian). The only thing is it had a tiny bit of rust, (barely noticeable) but many scratches and paint chips. Think I should still get it? Of course depending on if it runs good.

huh? Well.........Having it RUN GOOD is much more important than having some paint chips and a little rust.

What happened to the Celica?

4WS has a lot of extra (expensive)parts to wear out. I don't have any experience with the 4WS. Have a mechanic check it out first.

A Celica is cheaper to insure.

I may still get the Celica, if I can talk the guy to selling it for about $2500-$3000 canadian. Cause it's going to cost about $1000 to fix the synchro gears (I'm not mechanically able).

might be able to bring it down due to paint chips and rust.
if there is an equivalent of kelly blue book, for canada, check what the price for that car is and then subtract for paint chips and rust..
and offer him that.

bargain the price down more! it s ounds the price is high for that year, 88. plus the 88s to 90s+ are riddled with mechanical problems.. be careful, these preludes can be high maintenance.
