My wrist has been in pain for more than 2 weeks. I feel down while running to a base playing softball. It doesn't really hurt when i do normal things (like typing this message on my keyboard) but if i try to lift heavy objects or push something (and bend my wrist) it hurts somewhat. I was thinking it was just a contusion or something and it would heal, but i think this has gone on too long for that...

I was thinking of calling a primary care doctor first, but now i'm thinking i should contact a radiologist to get an imaging done. What do you guys think?

If you have survived 2 weeks, you are probably sprained and can go the general doctor. And worst case, if it is broken, you've already waited two weeks, so a few more hours won't kill you.

actually for a broken bone I would go to the emergency room. Because you are going to need x rays.

Yep, and it sounds like a fracture, not a sprain. I've fractured my wrists a lot before.

depends more on your insurance.
your insurance might require you to see your PCP, or just call them and get a referral to see a specialist.

usually you have ER fee's and they will usually xray, splint and then tell you to go see a specialist.

No that's wrong. Just because a bone is broken (especially a sulter 1 fracture in the wrist) doesn't mean that you are in such pain you immediately go to the doctor. And, the fact that it still continues to hurt makes me almost a 100% sure he fractured it, and a general doctor is going to have him get X-Rays no matter what with what he described. The X-Ray will probably be "negative" for a break since you waited so long, but they will still be able to tell by plate spacing etc.
