Think something is fishy here?

I would say you're right. One of two things is true:

1) He is an honest seller and was buying stuff to get credibility.
2) He is a dishonest seller and was buying stuff to get credibility.

either way he doesn't look credible. if i see 500 $.01 items and no or very few regular items, forget it.

Agreed. I would wait to see this round of sales and feedbacks before buying from him.

It just pisses me off that people get away with ripping thousands of people off on e-bay... (Re; the fuel saver thing.) These devices have been shown in laboratories to not improve mileage a bit. Yet that guy has sold thousands of little pieces of metal, profiting about $20 each time from people's stupidity. THEN, I have to deal with these stupid people who tell me, "oh yeah? Well, I drove it 4 miles and already I noticed a difference in my gas mileage."

Old scam. I caught someone doing the same thing several months back when I was looking for loose diamonds. Seller built up a feedback of over 1000 selling a $.01 ebook. Then suddenly had 20 auctions for $1500+ diamonds all ending within 10 mins of each other. :disgust:

look, just because he is away on a business trip and wants you to send the item to his daughter who is in college in nigera, doesnt mean that he is a fraudulent seller, ok? sheesh, stop being so paranoid.

so that should say enough

hahahaha.... look at the "graph" in the first picture in the description.

That graph tells me all I need! I'm sold!

i don't think its supposed to be a graph of actual data...

exactly.

It just shows bars increasing in size... my guess is that it's supposed to make people glance by real quick and think it showed some performance gain.

I do the exact same thing whenever I create a new eBay account for selling. The guy could be a scammer, but selling used hard drives isn't going to get you big bucks; if the guy wanted to scam people, wouldn't he be better off listing higher end stuff?

eBay requires you to have a certain number of positive feedback to be eligible to sell certain items, and to be eligible for PayPal protection. $.01 auctions are a quick way to get them.

how can you possibly be a lifer and ask this question?

So posting quite a bit on here means I should know how eBay works? I don't see the correlation.
