Think I have a chance of making it?

I've been tossing up the idea of making my own site w/reviews and tutorials on it about computers. I am not a complete genious but I do know some and I think I should start doing something productive. I set up this site for a rough draft Here.

What do you think. Is it worth trying or should I not even waste my time?

I have a better chance of becoming the Queen of England.

Just kidding, that's mean... But seriously, the hardware site business was a niche market a couple years ago. Frankly there isn't room for many of them. The big ones (AnandTech, SharkyExtreme, FiringSquad, [H]ard|OCP, & Tom's Hardware, The Tech Zon) probably get 99% of the market, with possibly hundreds of small sites getting a small sliver of the traffic. The only way you'd have a hope would be to start big, with a large financial backing.

If you want my honest opinion, you'd be better off investing your time in a solid education. You'll likely end up much further ahead than you would have with a hardware site.

But if you want to do it in your spare time just for fun... Go for it. It can't hurt, & could even get you some good background experience.

Yeah I know what ya mean. I just am tossing up the idea. I am not going to into anything heavy but just maybe a little here and there. But it probably wouldn't amount to anything at all. But the thing I am interested in is the stuff I will learn by doing it. I just might have to try it.

If you're doing it for fun and to learn, go for it. If you're doing it for money, then see Viper's first sentence in his post.

I have done similar things like this about 4 times over the past 4 years.... About 2 of them were actually good. If you want ot be successful, you have to have a good name, an excellect site design, update AT LEAST once a day, and have some connections so you dont review only the hardware that you own.

No offense, but you should either purchase a web authoring program (Dreamweaver) or get someone to make you a site. Also, MAKE SURE you actually get some web space and pay for it, not one of thsoe banner or free sites.

Hey, if you like doing it, and it's interesting, do it! Don't expect to make money from it, but you could learn quite a lot in the process and gain real world experience.....

And I tell ya what, it won't hurt later on in a job interview either, to be able to show that you have some initiative, that you can do something without having to be supervised etc.

Don't expect $$ from it, but go for it!

PS, I hereby declare Viper GTS "Queen of England" :D

Also, don't be discouraged by my post, it was just some advice. It is fun doing that and you should try it.
