if you MUST wake up, leave the alarm clock loud, don't turn it off, someone is sure to come in to your room and kick your ass. getting ass kicked = waking up = profit

Tape it to you ear. Seriously. My phone vibrates so incredibly loudly it wakes me up from a good distance away.

A cell phone on vibrate can wake some people up? Holy crap.... Someone could break into my apartment and rob me and I'd sleep right through it

Like the other guy hearing it vibrate on the nightstand will wake me up. If I was only going to get a few hours of sleep I'd want something noisier than that to be safe.

Set it on the desk .. more effective than the hand.

I wake up more often to friends calling me at weird hours of the morning/night than I do to my useless alarm clock.

Use a vibrating alarm clock

Or set the 113dB audible alarm for some early morning fun.:D

I know that I'd sleep through that! It takes 11 alarms to wake me up in the morning, unless I use the Indian alarm clock(lots of water before bed :p)

so, indian's own alarm = drink a lot of water? that's pretty bad on an-hour-routine-to-bathroom method! :Q
