Things you dont see in the MSM. Granted, if someone pulled a pistol and shot 1 student it would be all over the major news outlets. Pull a gun, stop a criminal, prevent a rape and save 10 lives?

Not worth reporting.

Tell me theres no agenda in the MSM.

All of the students who were there now have CCW permits as I understand it.

College Student Shoots, Kills Home Invader

COLLEGE PARK, Ga. -- A group of college students said they are lucky to be alive and they’re thanking the quick-thinking of one of their own. Police said a fellow student shot and killed one of two masked me who burst into an apartment.

Channel 2 Action News reporter Tom Jones met with one of the students to talk about the incident.

“Apparently, his intent was to rape and murder us all,” said student Charles Bailey.

Bailey said he thought it was the end of his life and the lives of the 10 people inside his apartment for a birthday party after two masked men with guns burst in through a patio door.

“They just came in and separated the men from the women and said, ‘Give me your wallets and cell phones,’” said George Williams of the College Park Police Department.

Bailey said the gunmen started counting bullets. “The other guy asked how many (bullets) he had. He said he had enough,” said Bailey.

That’s when one student grabbed a gun out of a backpack and shot at the invader who was watching the men. The gunman ran out of the apartment.

The student then ran to the room where the second gunman, identified by police as 23-year-old Calvin Lavant, was holding the women.

“Apparently the guy was getting ready to rape his girlfriend. So he told the girls to get down and he started shooting. The guy jumped out of the window,” said Bailey.

A neighbor heard the shots and heard someone running nearby.

“And I heard someone say, ‘Someone help me. Call the police. Somebody call the police,’” said a neighbor.

The neighbor said she believes it was Lavant, who was found dead near his apartment, only one building away.

Bailey said he is just thankful one student risked his life to keep others alive.

“I think all of us are really cognizant of the fact that we could have all been killed,” said Bailey.

One female student was shot several times during the crossfire. She is expected to make a full recovery.

Police said they are close to making the arrest of the second suspect.

Uh, it probably wasn't in the MSM recently because it happened in May, 2009.

Right, its almost a year old by now.

News come slow out here in Nebraska. If you fuckers would vote and get more Federal dollars spent on "shovel ready" projects we might get some roads and Postal Service out here!

The media isn't concerned with reporting self-defense shootings, it doesn't fit their hysteria agenda. They are only concerned with demonizing firearms and encouraging the victim mentality - as long as you're scared to death all the time you'll keep watching the news! It's not good TV/writing.

Law-abiding citizens use guns to defend themselves against criminals as many as 2.5 million times every year -- or about 6,850 times a day.1 This means that each year, firearms are used more than 80 times more often to protect the lives of honest citizens than to take lives.
As many as 200,000 women use a gun every year to defend themselves against sexual abuse.
Armed citizens kill more crooks than do the police. Citizens shoot and kill at least twice as many criminals as police do every year (1,527 to 606).6 And readers of Newsweek learned that "only 2 percent of civilian shootings involved an innocent person mistakenly identified as a criminal. The 'error rate' for the police, however, was 11 percent, more than five times as high.

WTH are you talking about ? WSBTV reported it. I'm sure other Atlanta news outlets reported it. The facts don't warrant it being a national story.

Stuff that could have happened but didn't isn't news. Basically a guy shot and killed an armed robber is all the facts presented.

btw, a few months ago 2 kids were killed in seperate gun accidents on consecutive days in Knoxville. Bet the "MSM" didn't cover that either.

Uhh, I hear these types of stories in the news all the time.

Then again, I live in Texas where it is more commonplace. I also don't expect national media to cover local events. If you have a problem with your local coverage, I suggest taking it up with them instead of earmarking the lack of coverage as some mass conspiracy theory of some sort by the "American Media" or some other ill conceived non sense.

Conspiracy? No. Planned? Of course! I haven't heard any media person deny the fact that sensationalist news stories are chosen on purpose. Look at the talking head shows, these people thrive by making people fear all sorts of things. Self-defense shootings are boring so they don't get run that often, certainly not 2.5 million times a year.

Also, fyi, without local news there would be no national news.

As usual, I stopped reading at "MSM." Nothing intelligent follows usage of that acronym.

Indeed.

Ironic as well that the OP claims the "MSM" ignored the story, then posted a link to a "MSM" website where the story is covered in detail.

Nice story, I think the complaint about the "MSM" is a bit weak though, but I know they tend to think of guns as "oohh scary" ... but that's just because they are "city folk" IMO...
