My wife wants an Ipad or Kindle and I don't want to pay full price. What are some things to look for on an Ipad and how do I make sure it isn't icloud locked now or in the future? Also what is a fair going price for it, the ebay completed listings vary widely.

Make sure it looks to be in good shape, it's a sealed unit, there's little they could have tampered with internally to screw it up down the road.

iCloud lock is when they are still logged into their iCloud account when they sell it to you. You have to enter the iCloud password to disable the lock, and if you don't have it, you're out of luck. If they say that it is restored and there's no lock, then you're good.

There is NO way to enable/disable without physical access, it cannot be done remotely.

Depending on the eBay prices, you may also want to look at refurbished units from Apple. You won't get it as cheap, but it does have a new battery and 1 year warranty, but I don't expect anything used to have a really bad battery.

You may also want to try craigslist or local listings if you want to be able to see it in person before buying to make sure there aren't any major scratches/scrapes. I wouldn't expect any of the more reputable ebay sellers to cause problems, but one never knows.

I'm meeting locally because I'd like to see first hand. What do you guys think is a fair price $250 for an att unlocked one? Or are they much cheaper
