Things to look for in a portable nav?

looking to get a portable nav for my new car.... I know garmin is the top brand out there, but there are about 15 different models all priced between $200 to $1000.... what do you guys use out there? and what type of features should i be looking for?

Garmin Nuvi 350.360, or 370 from Amazon for under $450.

Text to speech (read out street names) is very useful in a foreign spot. I believe the most important thing for the GPS is to have a good set of maps. You can pick from a lot of GPS companies, but the two major mapping companies are TeleAtlas and NAVTEQ...with NAVTEQ being better in the US, and TeleAtlas better in Europe. (link)

I bought a Mio C520 for a trip in San Francisco...worked out very well. Cost was ~$300. It uses TeleAtlas maps and has a widescreen interface. It's a competitor to the Garmin Nuvi 350, which costs around $50 more and uses NAVTEQ maps.
