Besides Whistler, and within the bounds of either city, what's awesome to do there? What's the MUST-SEE place, especially in Van, since I'll spend more time there than in seattle (1day).

TIA!

EDIT: vancouver BC.

and since people are saying it's rainy season, what are some good indoor activities? I went to that suspension bridge website, and it's closed for repairs :(.

EDIT2:
what's there to do in squamish in the winter?

as for seattle, isnan'e pike place market the place where they toss fish everywhere? lol.

remember. i'm in that area during late Feb. so it'll still be cold i bet. ugh. I'm not even sure if I have clothes for Canada. I'm a local So. Cal kid :(.

EDIT3:
i'm heading over there this week. forcast says mainly rainy. how much are canuck games?

what place has the best cost:fun ratio? cheaper/free = better. :p

I want to know a place that no one knows about, a place where even the locals don't go too often, but it's the place to go. is there such a place?

There is a suspension bridge in town somewhere. Costs money though. There is a nice park in the city you can drive around.

Whistler is about 1 to 1.5 hours outside of Vancouver.

Vancouver: Granville Island is fun.. there's nice parks and waterfront and a nice nightlife. There is also a nice Zoo and aquarium, and some great restaurants downtown. I guess it depends what you're going for, would help to have some more info for advice :)

Seattle: Pacific Science Center and Experience Music Project, tons of great music elsewhere so check what shows are playing, Pike Place, also a nice waterfront with great restaurants

Granville Island is definitely good. Also check out the Yaletown brewhouse pub. It's my favourite restaurant. Cedar plank salmon + Yippee IPA + Creme Brule cheesecake FTW.

visit me!

haha, Art gallery, Grouse Mountain, Capilano Suspension Bridge, Granville island, biking around Stanley Park (semi-closed after a storm we had, but still cool), Aquarium, Canucks game, Kits, Commercial Drive, plus the nightlife of Granville/Gastown/Yaletown

Squamish is also a good stop-over as well on the way to Whistler up the Sea-to-Sky highway.

Edit: Oh, and eat at Kadoya on Davie St. (in the gaybourhood); best Sushi you'll get in North America bar none.

Capilano suspension bridge. In North Vancouver. There's a free one, I think in Lynn Canyon.

Stanley Park is the park axelfox is talking about. Might look a little beat up after the few windstorms we had late last year.

It's kinda rainy season now, so outdoor activities might not be the way to go...

Depends on what you like of course

I'd drive up Cypress Bowl half hour before sunrise to look out over the whole city - especially if the clouds are high or if it's clear.

Stanley Park of course - Aquarium is good if you like them.

Walk around the West End - gays, asian students, old people, Balkan immigrants, it's a great mix. A number of really good restaurants. Vancouver has the best reasonably priced sushi in the world - no joke - fresh fish and tens of thousands of asian students all packed into a tiny area.

A ride on the skytrain is one of the cheapest sightseeing tours you can ever do, not too much to see, but some nice views.

Chinatown is OK, but not what it used to be - most of that action has moved to richmond. BIG asian malls there if you are interested.

Uhhh, you can always go to Richmond in B.C...

Seattle Center sucks unless there is an event there.
Whistler is good.
Mt. Baker is also good...
Pike Place Market is ok, just don't go near the park.

Not bloody much to do in Squamish in the winter - unless you are into winter sports - in which case you will be headed to Whistler. There's also rock climibing and mountain biking aplenty around there, but you have to be fairly hardcore to do either - esp in winter.

As for Climate - Van in winter is much like San Fran - a little less fog, a little more rain, similar temps. No different than Seattle that way.

Pike Place is the fish tossing spot yes.

In Seattle, I went to Beth's Cafe (I think it was near Green Lake or sometihng like that) and had a friggin 12 egg omlette. I saw it on the FoodNetwork and just wanted to try it. If you go, look for a picture on the wall with PHO KING AWESOME MINNESOTA with a picture of a bald guy with a green t-shirt on there. :)

So that's why the girls in Seattle seem to have a little more padding!
