Things to do in New Orleans by yourself, at night?

Well im here and so is my kinda g/f...but she is busy all night with socials for the neuroscience convention shes at (basically getting drunk, but trying to make connections for post PhD life)...so I dont go out with her because it would be a distraction...so im chillin by myself...any suggestions?

Walk around Bourbon St. and "take in the sights".
Take a digicam with you. 😀

I was there by myself for a Visual Studio conference in May. Had a blast. But that did include going out and partying on Bourbon with a couple of the guys who were speakers at the conference. Microsoft sure likes to give out free alcohol. I guess they figure they can liquor you up then convince you to buy 20 copies of VS.Net 2003.

W/ a nick as MrDingleDangle, I never thought you'd consider yourself alone 😛

just dont tell your g/f about the strippers half

I don't know why anyone would pay to go to the strip joints there.
I preferred the amateurs anyway.

Duh.
The point is that it's more interesting to watch the free shows from the balconies.
You know, the amateurs.

oh, like that girls gone wild stuff? *yawn*

Go over by the river walk and go to Mullates, best Cajun music in town, the food is great and they have a nice dancefloor.

Bleep

Welcome to N.O. I live over in the Irish Channel, about 2-3 miles from the French Quarter. I would highly recommend heading over to Frenchmen street, rather than Bourbon. It's much more of a local scene and has several great bars within just a few storefronts of one another. If you go that route, be sure to check out D.B.A. and Snug Harbour, which happen to be just one door down from one another. I'm pretty sure both, or at least one of them, will have live music tonight. They've truly got better local music than what you'll find in the Quarter. Have fun and be safe.

Some stuff to consider: (from my NOLA friend (she grew up there)

During the day
Aquarium
The Cabildo (spelling?)
St Louis Cathedral
Riverwalk
- use a street car to get you uptown

At night
consult Gambit magazine (freebie mag about weekly events) for music
Bon Ton Rulez on Magazine street
Port of Call on Esplanade (great burgers)
take a Ghost Tour (plenty of walking around the town at night)

And most important, have fun!
