Things to do in Manhattan?

I'm taking my girl to Long Island City to take her CSW Exam, and since it's right by the city, I'm thinking about driving in after she's done. I live in Long Island, so it's not like I've never been to the city before, but I can't think of anything to do there during the cold season.

Any ideas?

As her to bring her friend along so i can join...

Some stuff to do:

I would recommend the village by West 4th Street...head into one of those music bars. Some of the bands are very good.

Nothing at all.

NYC is a boring place that is overcrowded and overpriced with high taxes.

Just come to Jersey instead. It's better here.

As usual, LordJezo is an idiot.

Anyways, the gf and I recently saw Avenue Q, I highly recommend it. It's hilarious. What about dinner and a show? I can recommend tons of restaurants.

What show? I think she wanted to see Mama Mia, is that any good? Can you recommend an Italian restaurant?

Avenue Q is a hilarious show, especially if you're just out of college. It is definitely a show you won't fall asleep in. I think I'd fall asleep in Mamma Mia, but I don't think my girlfriend would subject me to it in the first place (3 hours of ABBA? No thanks.)

What sort of budget and what type of Italian are you looking for?

Budget? Hmm, I guess $20 per head is fine, I'm not looking to spend more than $50. Type? The only catch is that she's vegetarian.

Based on your budget, I was going to say Carmine's as well, but it's family style, so you'd have to share a vegetarian entree. The upside is that their Penne Alla Vodka is really good,. as is their Caesar Salad. I don't know of too many sit-down Italian places in Manhattan in that price range that aren't family style. Tony's Di Napoli is good as well and a little cheaper than Carmine's (with less wait), but is also family style. Lasagna in Murray Hill is good and cheap, as is Maruzella on the UES, oh and Petaluma might be a bit more than you want to spend, but is in the ballpark and very good for the price. Also UES. I'm guessing (hoping) those figures didn't include drinks...

Amazing. L'Impero is definitely one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. Tudor City is interesting too, I'd never been up there. I didn't realize that's where they filmed that scene in Scarface where Tony is going to blow up the UN guy's car (where the guy comes out of his apt with his family).

Yes, $20 per head per entree, not including drinks. Also, please recommend places near Broadway so I don't have to move the car.

Thanks for all your input!

You can't think of anything to do in Manhattan? You must be bored quite often if not even NYC can provide entertainment for you.

I love Carmines, but family style for two people doesn't always work...
