things to do in houston

i'll be visiting houston for 3 days this weekend. any houstoners want to fill me in on any places to check out, including touristy stuff, areas of interest, night hotspots, and asian area centers (for food?)

i just want to get a feel for the city in general.

I gotta jet right now but if I remember I'll give you a few places. I actually live in DFW but I have been down to Houston more than a few times. There is a decent sized 'China Town' where you can get some Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese food. Hotspots in Houston, though, are kind of hard to find. The downtown, at least my opinion, is pretty frigging boring.

Chinatown sucks. You want to go down to 59 and Bellaire for great food.

Downtown - Excellent night life nowadays... You can take the rail from the museum district.

Texans are in season, and you can catch a game at Reliant - one of the NFL's finest

Houston Galleria - all the pretentiousness money can buy. Great shopping.

Richmond Strip - Great bars... a few notable restaurants.

Rice Village - a little bit of everything... all close to Rice U. - one of the nicest universities on the planet.

i lived in houston for 8 yrs. it's boring as hell there. the galleria is a pretty decent place to go. as for anything else, try laser tag or strip clubs. houston has a TON of those.

go the the space center. I live about 10 minutes away from it if not less and i havent been there in like 8 years, they probally got all sorts of new things.

Sorry, I get sort of obtuse sometimes. But hell yeah go to the Space Center.

You can also drop down to Corpus, I suspect Houston has some killer seafood to eat

I think he meant Galveston for the seafood Try Casey's or Gaido's, or you could hit the Kemah boardwalk, but its very tourist trappy...
The space center is cool if its your first time there, but they dont change too much.
I cant help much with the asian food, but i know an awesome place for medeteranian and italian food

The road condition there is the worst I've ever seen for any city.

I guess you haven't been to many cities then, especially any up north. Considering you drive a lowered roller skate all roads are going to seem bad to you. Get a real car and you will notice that it is your car and not the roads. Roads in Houston are some of the best as far as large cities go and you where on I-10 which is under massive renovation/upgrade so you should expect the anomolies and uneveness for a while. You really need to get out more.
