Things to do in and around Virginia Beach?

JBT

Lifer
Hey guys I'm going to Virginia Beach with the new Wife this October for a week sort of like a Honey Moon. What are some entertaining things to do in the area? We will be driving down from VT so we'll have a car etc and don't mind driving a little bit to do something fun.

Thanks in advance!!!

Get your groove on like rabbit's in heat?

PS- miss a "t" in rabbit and I would've insulted a lot of folks of the jewish faith

Take a trip over the bay bridge/tunnel.
Visit the Shipyards. If they don't have tours, insist. You paid for those ships and you should get to go one.

Probably be a great time to drive on the skyline drive. It isn't anywhere near VA beach, but would probably be enjoyable. Also Jamestown is right by Williamsburg.

Fishing on a pier, party boat, or gulf stream fishing. Its called gulf stream fishing, but it is really going out about 60 miles and fishing.

You could try the Virginia Aquarium (formerly named the Virginia Marine Science Museum) on General Booth Blvd. Also, try Motorworld or Ocean Breeze water park on Birdneck. All my friends and I try to avoid the bars down at the oceanfront, but some of the places on Shore Drive are pretty cool at night such as Hot Tuna, Shorebreak (billiards and bar), and C.P. Shuckers.

Try Granby street in Norfolk (near MacArthur Mall) for the nightlife on Friday and Saturday nights. There are some nice bars and clubs.

I have lived in Williamsburg and can also speak of the things to do there. As people have mentioned there is Busch Gardens, Colonial Williamsburg, and the Green Leafe Tavern at the corner of Scotland and Richmond Road (right across the street from Zable stadium at the college of william and mary).

As said, Busch Gardens.
Sandbridge for the boogie boarding
Oceanfront for the women
Ocean Breeze Waterpark
Motorworld for go-carting
Deep sea fishing excursions
Nauticus in Norfolk
Virginia Marine Science Center
Virginia Air and Space Museum in Norfolk
Chrysler Museum in Norfolk

You could also tour Navy bases and perhaps even a ship if there are any open houses going on. I live in Va Beach for another few weeks, PM me if you want any details about the stuff I mentioned above (or anything else).

One of my coworkers raves about that place. I never went there though.

There are tour packages that you can buy at little shops by the beach such as deep sea fishing and stuff.
Free visit to the USS Wisconson in Norfolk.
