Things to do in and around San Jose, CA

I'm graduating High School next week and I've realized that I haven't done or gone to see much here in the Bay Area. There was a thread last week about this place called SpeedRing and I had never heard of it. Here I am, lived my entire life here (17 years) and I don't even know of some key attractions around here.

So, what is there to do in and around San Jose?

Shouldn't people who live in San Jose, such as yourself, be the ones to ask?

And there's nothing to do in San Jose. Go to San Francisco or Santa Cruz.

You'd think that, wouldn't you.

What exactly do you do in Santa Cruz? I mean, other than go to the beach?

Go mountain biking. Visit my parents. Go hiking in a redwood forest. Go to the beach.

I'm not much for shopping or bars/clubs, which so many people seem to think are the most fun things in the world.

Oh, San Jose has Great America, if you like amusement parks (I can't beleive you won't have heard of that, though).

Heh, I have had Season Passes to PGA for the past three years.

I guess I'm looking for places that aren't that well known.

go to the site of 3dfx's old headquarters and place a flower on its grave 🙁

I work a block away from that building. They've got scaffolding all over it, and are giving it a makeover. A coworker and I actually entertained the thought of renting the place out for a few nights to do a LAN party there.

That would kick ass!

Do they still have the 3dfx signs up and everything or is it just a bare building?

I don't know the address offhand, but it's on the corner of Nortech and Fortran.
