Things to do, eat, and see in NYC as a resident..........?

Just moved here recently. I see myself staying here only for few years while I'm still young.

I want to see, do, and eat things both tourists and New Yorkers do. So please, make some recommendations, especially non-touristy things.

What I've done & planning to do so far:

-Museums: I've been to MoMa, Guggenheim, & The Met. NYC must be LITTERED with museums. What are other hidden gems? How's that carrier museum docked in Hudson river?

-Attending Letterman next month, also interested in checking out Colbert, SNL, Fallon, etc.

-Central Park must have lots of crazy events throughout summer and winter. Can you tell me what's great annually? Where do I sign up for Central Park anyway? (Boston always had annual full-production outdoor Shakespeare play)

-I've been to Korea town, Japan town, China town & Little Italy. There MUST be other ethnic sectors (I saw a Russian one in Travel Channel). Where are they?

-I've been to Top of the Rock, Times Sq, and saw few broadway shows. What else?

-Must try foods? NY is known for pizza. What are the big 4 pizza joints? I heard about you can do pizza crawl somewhere....

-What's great outside of Manhattan? Brooklyn & Queens must have their unique things to do....

I've been to the Brooklyn Flea Market which was pretty cool if you're into that sort of thing. If you want really ethnic cuisine go to Flushing in Queens. It's like going to China (way, way more so than going to Chinatown).

Pizza (no specific order):

John's Pizzeria (Theater District)
Grimaldi's (Brookyln)
Di Fara's (Brookyln)
Famous Joe's Pizza (West Village)
Artichoke (14th between 1st and 2nd) - Get the artichoke slice...

To each his own. Perhaps you should tell that to the hordes of people that line up to grab a slice. It's not like it's outrageously expensive either.

OP, get yourself a slice.

Will do. Anything else besides pizza? Come on guys.

There's a pizza tour you can take - http://www.scottspizzatours.com/

In the summer, Central Park should have Shakespeare in the park or various concerts in the park.

You haven't been to the Statue of Liberty - book your ticket to go up the crown. Then also head over to Ellis Island.

So, so, so much to do in NYC. Go see a Broadway show - see several, TKTS it or rush ticket it.

Places I didn't get to eat when I visited:
Carnegie Deli (went to Katz's)
Shake Shack
Gray's Papaya
Halal Cart
Peter Luger's (a dream of mine)

That's just off the top of my head. There are tons of restaurants to hit up.

Places I'd go eat: Peter Luger's, Carmine's, Thai restaurants (like Room Service on 9th Ave), and tons of good sushi places here.

I live in Queens. You should definetly check out the US Open during the summer and go to a Mets game. You can also check out the famous globe nearby. Flushing has tons of good Chinese restaurants.

Looks like you've already done a lot though!

Pizza: I don't know any specific places. I honestly just look around and eat whatever looks good. Maybe I'm not typical for a local, but I think there's plenty of good and bad pizza in the area but I've rarely heard of anything "special" (although I have heard Grimaldi's in Brooklyn mentioned a lot).

Museums: Obviously there are many. My suggestions: Check out The Frick Collection and the Cloisters. You can find plenty of info about both online. As far as the air craft carrier: That is the intrepid. Haven't been there since I was a kid, but it was fun then.

Restaurants: Probably hundreds of fantastic restaurants in NYC and Brooklyn alone. If you want it, you can find it in NY. There are a lot of restaurants by famous chefs if that's your thing and there are a lot of hidden gems. I'd pick up a Zagats and explore a bit.

I'd also suggest the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island if you want to do "tourist" stuff.

There's a million more things to do if you keep an eye out, way too much to cover here.

I like jogging, biking and rollerblading down the path that runs along west st. Lots of pretty girls exercising in their lulus too!
