Take an hour and go into the Forbes museum. It has thousands of toy soldiers and boats from around the world. A neat and interesting thing to see once. Also near that is the Strand bookstore, one of the largest? in the country.

Seems like you have the most popular things covered. While I was there I had to see the NYC Macys just because and the ESPN and Hard Rock aren't too shabby. Have you submitted your name for tickets for Letterman, Conan O'Brien, or SNL (if they start shooting at that time)?

Bring your ass to the ghetto. Visit areas in the Bronx (such as the Bronx Zoo, or the NY Botanical Gardens) or even Brooklyn a bit (Queens plainly sucks ass...)

Too many people visit New York just to see Manhattan.

I would skip all of those except central park. I was not impressed. Maybe the WTC site has improved, when I went it was a big fence and a bunch of digging and construction.

I liked the Met quite a bit.

Some of the restaurants mentioned below, e.g. morimoto (I thought that was philly?) and babbo are good. Expensive, though. You can get great food on the cheap too. I enjoyed dim sum at oriental garden some time back, for example.

I'm not a big fan of art and I have to admit that I enjoyed the Met a lot.

Agreed. I am rather fond of both, and serendipitous they happen to be right next to each other.

Don't forget the Guggenheim as well.

The list of touristesque activities in the city is rather endless, actually.

Oh, and offer to take that actuarial loser Tim/Mark/Blake out to lunch.

Morimoto and Mesa Grill are both overpriced for what you get. Mesa Grill was expensive glorified Tex Mex. Not bad just not special. Morimoto was OK but way, way overpriced. Stick with Nobu or Next Door Nobu. A lot of the same stuff. Still pretty expensive though.

 for Babbo & Spice Market. Never been to Per Se, but considering that it's in the Time Warner Center, probably tough to get into. If you're a sushi fan, try Sushi of Gari.

EDIT: Those are mostly higher end places. I wouldn't stick to them exclusively, especially not if you're on a budget. There's plenty of lower rent places that have great eats as well.

To add something off the beaten track... if your cousin is into vegetarian or vegan food, he will never eat better than in NYC. Countless good places to eat (affordably, too). Obviously PM for more info. Also, if cheese is OK, EAT PIZZA. How could it not be mentioned here? Some of the best pizza by the slice and at the table in the city can be had from two places mere blocks from each other. Fascati on Henry St. in Brooklyn, steps from the Brooklyn Bridge (which I highly recommend walking), and Patsy Grimaldi's under the BB nearby.

No about the TV shows, but it won't matter. My cousin doesnt speak english, so it wouldnt be so interesting sitting at the late night show with no understanding.

Thanks for the tips guys.

will def try some museums but can't spend so much time on that. Museums take patience and understanding which equals lots of time.

You could be like Michael Scott from "The Office" and eat at the best little pizza joint in NYC, Sbarro's.

Go to the Bronx Zoo (one of the best)
Also visit Chinatown, walk around the East Village and just window shop. Ride the Roosevelt Island Tram (despite its recent misfortune, it's completely worth the risk)

Take the Staten Island ferry or walk across the Brooklyn Bridge, both cost nothing.
