Things that really annoy me about the Droid

  • Battery cover comes off in my pocket all the time
  • It partially slides open all the time in my pocket
  • Lack of unified mailbox
  • Sucks as a music player 'cause it has no freaking buttons on it

When are we getting a Droid without these problems?

Never had a problem with the first two myself. The second two are resolved easily by using K9 and/or flashing Sapphire or CM, which includes the onscreen music controls.

Need a way to control music without the Droid's screen on at all.

First two - you probably won't have to problem unless you use the droid to lift/go to the gym. Involves lots of different sitting and positions and more friction depending on the shorts and pants you wear.

A lot of ROM's have the music controls built onto the lock screen. It helps a ton.

Or the music app can be modded to enable gesture control. Just swipe right or left to change songs. Much easier than hunting for a key.

Its not a music player. Its a mini computer, and as such does not do any one thing extremely well. For that same reason its also pointless to complain about the camera. But the email issue is all software and as such its an easy fix.

If you want a music player get one of the Nokias in a 5000 series.

But but but they are owned by GOogle?

Google lets you store source code for open source projects on their servers. This means that Google could take elements from K9 (which seems to be based on the original mail client) and merge them back in.

Short answer though, No.

im annoyed with how slow it charges over USB but that's prob not a droid issue and a power over USB issue

An hour or so?

Not that slow for me. I think it may be slower on a laptop vs Desktop.

Stock charger is 850 mA while USB is 550 mA IIRC.

Battery has only come off mine when I take it off or when dropping it on the ground. And it didn't come off the other day when the wife dropped it on pavement in the parking lot. It now has scars though...but the screen is still perfect.

Keyboard still sucks but I'm halfway okay with it now.

The slider keyboard is probably the main reason my Droid sits on my desk collecting dust (using a Droid X now). I really hated it sliding open in my pocket.

if you leave the shipping plastic on it or simply use a piece of clear packing tape on the back you can solve that issue

The battery cover thing used to drive me crazy. I just put a folded up post it note on the inside of the battery cover. No more issues.

You can send me your unloved Droid. I'll make sure it has a happy cozy home in my pocket, keyboard open or not.
