Four girls at the back of the classroom were comparing the numbers of prizes they had won at the fair. "I've got one more than you", said Bernice. "I've got two more than you", said one girl to another. "I've got three more than you" said one to another. "I've got four more than you" , "I've got five more than you", "I've got six more than you", rang their excited voices, but we don't know who was talking to whom.

If they had won a total of 27 prizes, how many did Bernice win?

5, 8, 4, 10 = 27 random guesses
bernise = 5 (+1 from 4)
girl 2 = 10 (+2 from 8 and +5 from 5 and +6 from 4 )
girl 3 = 8 (+3 from 5 and +4 from 4)
girl 4 = 4 (remained silent)

That works out just by randomly guessing... wonder what the real answer is..

Then girl 4, who claimed she was oppressed because she was poor, demanded that the others share the prizes. She stated that she remained silent because she felt inferior due to the fact that she had the least amount of prizes. The other girls, who said that they earned their prizes by actually winning, had no case in front of the liberal jury. Girl 4 became an example of empowerment and was given the majority of the other girls' prizes.

Final tally:

Girl 1- 1 prize
Girl 2- 1 prize
Girl 3- 1 prize
Girl 4- 24 prizes + key to the city.

Later it turned out that Girl 4 wasn't really poor at all, but was instead the daughter of wealthy lawyers who make all their money using the same tactic.

The end.

It's funny because it's true.
