So I was swaping out the motherboard and cpu in my rig, and noticed that several months ago when I had done some work on it, I had pluged the video card into the fan speed controller. The odd thing is that it worked that way for months without a hitch.
Looks like I'm stupid and lucky.

Well, I'm going to guess that video cards like 12 volts, and won't do real well on 8 or 9. Thats the lucky part, that channel was turned up all the way.
 
wouldnt have hurt. once the molex in the video card fell out, it just crashed in games, until i realized, and then plugged it back in, and everyting was fine.
