Here's something to think about this weekend.

Carl Jung coined the term synchronicity to describe the meaningful coincidences in our lives. My life is so full of them I could probably write a book about it.

Meaningful coincidences are meaningful because they have meaning for you. This is not meant to be a religious debate. :p I don't claim to know what the mechanism behind all of it is. I just think synchronicity is an interesting subject, and I want to know what constitutes a meaningful coincidence for you. :) Nosey little wench, aint I? :D

Some common ones are children being born on grandparent's birthdays, hearing from an old friend shortly after you were thinking of him/her, grieving for a loved one and having a butterfly land on you or some other comforting thing happen, and of course there are always the little coincidences that lead to love (Just read the Ann Lander's "How We Met" columns.).

Tell me yours and I'll tell you one or two of mine!

BTW Have a good weekend, all~!

Ok, I'll kick off with a 'common one' as you so nicely put it ;) I was born on my mother's birthday, 11th May.

There have also been two occasions in the past year where I have spotted an old friend from primary school shortly after thinking about them/dreaming about them. I remember thinking this was interesting and intriguing, but it by no means freaked me out. I know there are other ones, but I'm afraid I can't recall them at this point

Just got an email from an old friend today. Odd because just last night I was thinking of emailing him. Nutty, eh?

Cool beans, snow patrol.

Are ya ready for this? One of my kids was born on my great grandfather's b-day, which was also the same day his widow died. The weird thing was, my niece was born a month prematurely and managed to come into the world on the anniversary of his death. I don't think the kids are reincarnations, but it is nice to keep the birthdays the same through the generations. I missed my mom's b-day by 1 day. I'm her belated b-day present. :)

I think it is really cool. I'm just goofy that way I guess... I like to find little miracles in everyday things.

Edit: I hope you guys keep this thread going... I'll enjoy reading it later!

Peace`

I just knew there was somthing special about you! ;)

PS... theories on this are welcome, as long as they are represented as opinions and not indisputable facts. This is all supposed to be fun!

I met a guy once and we clicked right away. After talking to him just a short time, he just seemed sooo familiar. After I asked him when his birthday was, it dawned on me. He very much reminded me of my BEST FRIEND, who he shared a birthday with.:)

Kinda insignificant, but frequently a word or phrase in a song will come at the exact same time as I read it on paper, web page, or whatever. Even better, taken from recently I was reading an article on MSN about a guy who tried a DB Cooper type stunt (hijacked a plane, then jumped out with a home-made parachute, cratered in a mud flat). I'd never heard of DB Cooper before this article, & was listening to Kid Rock's Devil Without A Cause album. Just when I hit the first usage of "DB Cooper" in the article, literally at the EXACT same time, the line "...DB Cooper and the money he took..." came in track #1.

Wierd, yet very cool.

Man.... I thought this was going to be a thread about either Arsenio Hall or C&C Music Factory.

Oooh! There we go!

Arsenio Hall is out of work and so are the following artists that appeared on his show: C&C, Vanilla Ice, Milli Vanilli and MC Hammer!

Coincidence!??!?? I THINK NOT!

hmm i don't know if it was coincidental or what.

I was born on January 13th. My younger brother was born about 364 days after me, or on January 12th. My sister was also born on January 12th, 5 years after my brother. My childhood sucked cuz all the birthday parties were shared among the three of us. My youngest brother was born all the way back in November, so he's a freak. :)

The four of us were born girl, boy, girl, and then boy.
